What is paternity DNA testing?

Within cells, DNA undergoes a process of folding and packaging resulting in the chromosomes. Humans have 46 chromosomes: 23 from the mother and 23 contributed by the father. this is the basis of the analysis of paternity and, studying a series of genetic markers located on different chromosomes (STRs, or short sequences repeated in tandem ") is possible to determine unambiguously the parentage of an individual. Today, these genetic markers are chosen as in forensic investigations as well also in studies of biological bond of kinship. Information.
